MEET Prof. Orla Hardiman
Prof. Orla is the Academic Director of Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute, Trinity College Dublin, and Beaumont Hospital. Her research group focuses on the epidemiology and pathogenesis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) with particular reference to the identification of genetic and environmental susceptibility factors. Prof. Orla is a key supporter of this research day and will give opening remarks.
MEET Dr. DARRIN MORRISSEY
Dr. Darrin Morrissey was appointed SFI Director of Programmes in September 2014. In his role Darrin is responsible for overseeing all SFI research funding programmes and management of funded awards. Darrin joined SFI from GSK where, as Business Improvement Director, he was responsible for the strategy deployment and business transformation at the GSK-owned dermatology manufacturing business Stiefel. During his time with GSK Darrin also held the role of Global Oncology Marketing Director with responsibility for developing launch strategy for melanoma therapy assets.
MEET Dr. Ryan Quigley
Dr. Quigley is the Vice-President, Immunology Global Marketing, Abbvie. He played a key role in establishing Abbvie in Ireland as a new pharma leader. Dr. Quigley will speak about the corporate environment and opportunities for researchers.
MEET Prof. Michael Monaghan
Prof. Michael Monaghan is an Ussher Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin Dr. Monaghan performed his Postdoctoral research in Germany as a recipient of a prestigious Marie Curie Individual Fellowship. His research was coordinated between the Department of Cell and Tissue Engineering in the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology and the Department of Women's Health in University Clinic Tubingen. Prof. Monaghan, as a new faculty, will share his experience on faculty applications.
MEET Dr. Parvaneh Mokarian-Tabari
Dr. Parvaneh is Specialist in Research Commercialisation and Industry Collaborations, CRANN. Her research expertise includes polymer physics, properties of polymer thin films at interfaces and surfaces, block copolymer nanolithography for microelectronics and optics, functional surfaces, structural antireflective surfaces. Dr. Parvaneh is working on commercialization of her own research and will share her experience with us.
